Qatar Gas Exploitation
Three Times More than Iran
|
Deputy Oil Minister Ahmad Qaleh-bani says that at present Qatar is tapping
gas at South Pars three times more than Iran, adding that all the investment
should be made for development of South Pars and no money should be spent on
unnecessary sectors.
Addressing a ceremony to introduce the new managing director and bidding
farewell to the former head of the Special South Pars Economic Zone, the
deputy oil minister said at present the role and influence of the
development of oil and gas industries in the development of the country is
undeniable. He further noted that under the status quo oil and gas
industries are the most revenue generating industries in the country.
Qaleh-bani
who is also Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC),
stressed that Iran, like other oil and gas rich countries, should spend its
oil revenues on development of industrial infrastructures. He said currently
the Islamic Republic of Iran possesses the largest hydrocarbon reserves in
the world. He stressed that at present oil revenues are not optimally
utilized for the development of infrastructures and stressed that with the
execution of the law on targeted subsidies, there has been a great amount of
saving in energy carries.
He
pointed to the need for a more satisfactory execution of the second phase of
the law on targeted subsidies and said with the implementation of the law
energy consumption in the country was optimised and indulgence was
prevented.
Referring to the fact that Iran's exploitation from joint oil and gas fields
is not satisfactory, he said at present Qatat is tapping gas 2.5 to 3 times
more than Iran from joint reserves at the South Pars. |
