8 New Projects |
Deputy
oil minister for petrochemical affairs announced that eight new petrochemical
projects will be launched during the current Iranian calendar year (started
March 21, 2011).
He added
that contracts for 30 petrochemical projects will be signed with domestic and
foreign contractors and the new petrochemical hub of Iran will be established
in Chabahar.
Abdolhossein Bayat said on the sidelines of the 16th International Oil, Gas
and Petrochemical Exhibition in Tehran that a total of 40 million tons of
various petrochemical products of Iran were sold last year.
He noted
that a total of 24 million tons of petrochemicals have been sold at domestic
and foreign markets adding, "Domestic sale of petrochemical products has
increased 8 percent while foreign sales of Iran’s petrochemicals has risen
more than 16 percent last year compared to the corresponding period of the
preceding year."
The
official stated that total value of petrochemical products sold at domestic
and foreign markets has been estimated at over 15.5 billion dollars.
"Last
year, a total of 10.4 billion dollars of various petrochemical products and
polymers were sold in international markets," he said.
Managing
director of National Petrochemical Company stated that, last year, 17.8 tons
of various petrochemical products have been loaded and offloaded in various
ports and terminals.
"During
the same period, 12 petrochemical projects with a total capacity of 2.87
million tons have been made operational through an investment of about 2.5
billion dollars," he added.
Deputy
oil minister for petrochemical affairs said the value of petrochemical
products stands at 1.5 billion dollars per year, adding, "Last year, an
intensive plan was implemented to produce a total of about 3 billion liters of
gasoline and diesel fuel at petrochemical plants."
"At
present, we are capable of producing 24 million liters of gasoline at
petrochemical plants per day. Iran started exporting urea fertilizer last year
for the first time and the country also became self-sufficient in production
of caustic soda, ethylene, and some other petrochemical products," he said.
The
official noted that Iran has mastered technical know-how for production of
four strategic petrochemical products and technology for production of
petrochemical catalysts was transferred and indigenized last year.
Bayat
stated that statute of the Iranian petrochemical industries has been
formulated. He added that more than 1.8 billion dollars was invested in
petrochemical industries in 2010 and 850 billion tomans worth of bonds have
been sold to finance four petrochemical projects.
The official said that a total of eight new petrochemical projects will be
commissioned during the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2011)
and 30 petrochemical projects will be assigned to domestic and foreign
contractors. |
